Therapeutic Indications
The tea tree is a large tree native to Australia and southern Asia. One of the most popular essential oils of the natural health products industry, tea tree oil is obtained from leaves and twigs. Use of this plant spans many centuries, but only recently
has it received mainstream attention.
Tea tree is powerful enough to remove skin diseases, yet gentle enough to apply directly onto the skin. Traditional use of Australian tea tree includes skin injuries, rheumatism, toothaches, colds, sore and aching
muscles, head-aches, and as a mouthwash.
Current research has proven the effectiveness of this plant's anti-microbial properties. It is used to successfully treat cuts, stings, acne, toe nail fungus, and burns. This essential oil is potent enough that tea tree
soaked blankets are often used to cover burn victims, preventing infections.
In addition to eradicating microbial infections, tea tree is one of the few natural products that is a successful insect repellent, and removes head lice.
For an effective head lice treatment, wash hair and scalp thoroughly using a tablespoon of shampoo enhanced with 30 drops of Super Strength Oil of Oregano
and 15 drops pure Tea Tree Oil.
Remove all nits! Separate hair in sections and remove all lice and attached nits using a high quality nit comb, baby safety scissors and fingernails as required.
Wash bedding and recently worn (potentially infested) clothing, cloth hair accessories (scrunchies, elastics, etc.) in hot water enhanced with 60 drops of Super Strength Oil of Oregano and dry in a hot clothes dryer.
Soak combs and hair brushes in hot (not boiling) water enhanced with 10 drops of Super Strength Oil of Oregano.
Open Super Strength Oil of Oregano Organicaps®, combine with Extra Strength Tea Tree Body
Powder and sprinkle combination onto rugs, upholstered furniture, stuffed animals, and car seats. Let sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum to remove lice or fallen hairs with attached nits.
Repeat the steps outlined in this list until all nits and lice are removed.
Some oils, such as tea tree, can be applied directly on the skin, while others must be diluted first to avoid irritating dermal tissue.
Tea Tree recieved its name from its local usage as a type of herbal tea prepared from the leaves. Most of the benefits of tea tree have been learned from the long historical use by the aboriginal people of Australia. It
has been researched by modern scientific methods and it has been found to be effective against infectious organisms. It was also discovered that it is an immune-stimulant, thereby increasing the body's defense against any unwanted infectious
organisms.
Commercially tea tree is used in soaps, toothpaste, household cleansers, deodorants, disinfectants, gargles, germicides, mouthwashes, shampoos,
conditioners and in after shaves and spicy colognes.
Storage
Tea Tree oil should be stored in a cool, dry area until it is used. Once opened, refrigeration and tightly closing the cap will prolong its shelf life.
Usage
Warm the Oil to body temperature (if refrigerated) by rubbing the bottle in between the hands. Apply 4 times daily, and massage into the affected area.
Blends With
Clary Sage oil, Clove oil, Geranium oil, Lavender oil, Marjoram oil, Nutmeg oil, Rosemary oil, Pine oil
Complimentary Therapies
Proper nutrition is vital to good health. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses daily) and juice instead of coffee, tea or sodas. Try to avoid synthetic ingredients, highly concentrated in prepared or packaged foods, and take a well-balanced
multivitamin and mineral supplement.
